Stephen Schram has been named interim director to Michigan Public Media after the resignation of former director Donovan Reynolds.

Reynolds resigned from his position March 1 amidst a DPS investigation, possibly linked to executive gifts. The university is now conducting a separate internal financial investigation of MPM.

Schram will immediately take the helm of the MPM broadcasting stations, which include Michigan radio, an NPR news station broadcasting in Ann Arbor, Grand Rapids and Flint, and Michigan Television, a public television station broadcasting from flint.

Schram comes to MPM with 17 years of television and radio experience in Detroit, holding executive positions for Clear Channel broadcasting, Infinity Broadcasting, and WJBK-TV FOX 2. He also held the position of director of Michigan Association of Broadcasters from 1999-2005.

The largest radio station in the state, Michigan Radio, was named best public radio station in Michigan Tuesday for the 7th time in 8 years.

The trial of LSA junior Stephen Williamson, the student accused of urinating off an apartment balcony on two Asian students in a racially-motivated incident last September, has been adjourned for the second time in a month.

The new date is March 21.

Williamson was charged on Feb. 21 on counts of assault and battery and single counts of indecent exposure and disorderly conduct.

Both Williamson and his attorney, Joseph Simon, refused to comment on why the trial was postponed.
